Based upon an individual horoscope, each necklace brings dynamic energy to the wearer. No experience necessary, but a love of beads is a must. Learn how to make perfect wrappings using custom dyed, space-dyed and ikat dyed fine silk yarn. In a 1-day workshop, student will complete at least one brooch. In addition to the brooch, as a group we will create an exciting piece of wall art.
Supply fee $30 includes a variety of pre-cut shapes, over 100 shades of 20/2 to 60/2 silk yarn, all adhesives and findings. Exploring Not-So-Plain WeaveBreak free from the limitations of a small 4-harness loom and create fancy weaving as large as the imagination. Learn a unique method of color blending (Woven Words), design on the warping board with Easy Ikat and in the reed with skipped dent, discover exciting things to do with thrums and scraps, work with non-traditional wefts, practice spontaneous weaving from the heart, experiment with log cabin variations, joining techniques, and chenille tricks. All of this (and more) is accomplished in a warm and playful atmosphere, round robin style. Bonnie shares her secrets, hints and tips through beautiful slides, luscious examples and informative handouts. This workshop is designed for all weaving levels and can be tailored to fit all time slots from seminar to 3-day.
Bonnie’s Easy IkatA new twist on an ancient technique. This workshop is geared toward sharpening the sense of design and color while exploring this unique ikat variation. Prepare a skein of yarn for dyeing at home. Design and create a spontaneous warp from pre-dyed 3/2 cotton, 6 to 8 inches wide by 3 yards long. The workshop includes an exciting slide show and sumptuous samples, and it promises to add new dimensions to your creativity. Workshop length: 1-day

The 1-day workshop begins with an exciting display of woven word examples. Just imagine a color name draft, with a color and number for every letter of the alphabet, and you have a picture of woven words. Students learn a beautiful wrapping technique, wrap their names, and transfer this color sequence to a weft-faced weaving. After having woven their names, students have an opportunity to weave family names, a personal motto, or a short poem. Perfect for towels. Supply fee: $15 includes yarn, wrapping cards, and handout. Students bring warped loom. Seminars Exploring Not-So-Plain WeaveTake a look at exciting ways to make some pretty fancy weaving. From joining techniques to chenille ideas and using up all your thrums, break free of the limitations of a small or medium sized loom and create fabric as large as your imagination. From hints and tips to slides and luscious examples, see what’s been happening in Bonnie’s studio. Traveler By Loom“In 1959 on my way to lunch with a friend, I happened upon the loom room of the textile department at Rhode Island School of Design. This was my first encounter with a loom, and it was love at first sight. I changed my major on the spot and began my weaving journey.”
Blending a classical design background with 45 years of weaving experience and misadventures, Bonnie shares the development of her original techniques “Color Horoscope Weaving”, “Woven Words” and “Finding the Colors Within”. Strongly influenced by ethnic textiles, symbols and systems, Bonnie seeks to encode messages in her highly personal textiles.
